We couldn’t decide on a final version of a name for little Lex Landon so he just got a whole string of them. (We knew he’d want to be able to hang out with Jenna and Azia and their whole collection of names.) Triville was the middle name Dev’s mom gave Dev, so we both liked using that. Though I think I’d like to call him Landon, everyone else has been calling him Lex for a few months, so it seems a bit like changing his name. Maybe I’m just worried everyone will think we named him after some comicbook villian or a Grizzly football player. So, maybe I’ll just keep calling him Lex Landon. Gwen and Mom will probably just keep calling him Lander. (And Israel will keep calling him Lex Luther, Azia will continue to call him Yex Yandon, and Zoran will stick with Lexus.)

He had the cord wrapped around his neck and needed to get out quickly. Though the first few moments of his life were a bit scary, luckily the only real reminders of that are these little superficial injuries that are fading quickly. Because of the rough entry into the world he looks like he’s already been in a fight. (This picture actually doesn’t look nearly as bad as he did in the first few moments.) The first thing Azia said when she saw him was “He’s purple!” Dev and Israel thought this was a good argument for putting Ali or Cassius back into his name--one of their earlier ideas. His face was entirely bruised except for a small section on one check and he was a little scratched, too. The black eyes topped off the whole look. The nurse put this little sign on his bed to let everyone know he was okay despite the purplish hue.

So everyone doesn’t have to see the purple version of Lex Landon, I put up the black and white versions of his first-moments-of-life pictures.

The older kids are pretty fond of him already. They all want to be holding him all the time. I’m going to start training them all to do different caregiving tasks so there is less for me to do. It seems that should be the advantage of having this whole collection of kids.

The first complete family photo. (We’ll have to do an updated version in the near future when Lex and I don’t look so rough.)

Zoran was pretty excited to turn 3--though I’m not sure how excited the rest of the family was to attend yet another October birthday gathering. Why doesn’t anyone around here have babies in the spring?

Dev was in charge of the cakes--so one was decorated with Lightening McQueen and the other with a Yankees symbol.

This was one of the cars off the cake, but everyone seemed to know about Zoran’s car obsession. He got cars of all shapes and sizes, tractors, books about cars, clothes with cars on them, cases for cars...(and of course a few Diego and building things thrown in, too)

We had the party after the morning soccer games. Everyone was pretty hungry so we had lunch before cake and ice cream.
