February 9, 2006.
Israel got his wish and sang the National Anthem at Senior Night for the boy’s basketball team.

He was excited all week but finally got pretty nervous before the game. Once he started singing he was a little quiet, but so was his captive crowd. With his microphone he was pretty clear.

The only one more nervous was possibly his dad. Those are the words to the song Dev’s reading. He was afraid Israel would forget something (and so would he if he didn’t have the words).

With the combination of Senior Night and the Thompson Falls game (the other state-ranked team & the team that ended Mission’s undefeated record last time around) it was a packed house. I don’t how many people the building holds, but there were no seats (or even room in the walkways in the bleachers) in the entire gym. This made it even better for Israel. To prepare this time around he just got an internet printout of the lyrics, Dev listening to make sure he pronounced everything right, and a wire whisk to sing into. Now he’s ready to take some voice lessons and practice for next year.
