Like usual, Memorial Day in the Mission Valley was full of rain. Polson had a whole weekend of activities centered around the re-dedication of their bridge as the Armed Forces Memorial Bridge, the kids helped Valerie decorate graves the night before, and we had what is becoming our annual morning drive and breakfast at the Bison Range.

Israel was a part of the singing flag at the bridge dedication. All the kids met three hours before the presentation to practice the song, get shirts and hats, and figure out the formation (in the rain). Azia and Zoran toughed it out in the rain, too. We were all a bit soggy by the time the sun came out for the actual presentation. (And Azia still wanders around singing the song.)

If your imagination is strong, it does look like the flag.

It was a long afternoon. By the end of the festivities in Polson and after some Chinese food on the way home, this was the state of things by the time we pulled into our driveway.

On our walk at the top of the Bison Range Israel was giving the other boys history lessons. His favorite story was about when Umpy flew jets in the Revolutionary War. Here he is showing Gage how he could carry him like a wounded soldier (in that same Revolutionary War).

Eldon and Cedar get ready to capture some moments.
