Gwen and Todd let me and a bunch of the cousins tag along on their Memorial Day picnic.  We saw a lot of wildlife including a few bears, several deer in their spring velvet, and a bunch of antelope, many of them were nearly close enough to touch.

Gwen, Mesa, and Kenzie on top of the world (almost).

Our first stop was to hike out on the Bitteroot trail.  The boys beat everyone to the end of the trail, then paused briefly to have their triumph documented and scattered quickly into more mischief.

Once everyone else caught up mom showed some of the grandkids how to identify plants using a field manual.  The trail lived up to its name, there was plenty of bitteroot all along path.

After the first hike we finished our drive to the top where we laid out a blankent and had a feast of donuts, home made cinnamon rolls (thanks mom), and honey dew melon.

After breakfast we took one more hike to the very top, where the old lookout was, here mom tries to get some of her grandkids to stand in one spot long enough to take a picture.

We saw a few more deer and a lot of antelope on the way down, then stopped to look through the visitors center before going home.
