In the spring, female elephant seals (along with a few stray males) gather on this beach to molt.  We just happened upon them on our way home. It was quite a sight.

This photo is pretty, but really doesn’t do the event justice.

This gives you a better idea of the sheer numbers.

Keilana REALLY liked the seals.

Our little clan (seems tiny compared to everyone else’s these days) enjoying the beach.

Keilana trying to runaway from me on the boardwalk (usually she is quite a crafty escape artist, but today she just made a break for it).

I know its hard to tell, but these are zebras.  We just happened to glance out the window and there were zebras.  This land belongs to Hearst Castle, and apparently these fellas are descendants of a herd that W.R. Hearst kept there (he also had some giraffes and big cats, but we saw no signs of any of those).
