4th of July
A friend of our had a birthday party for 4th of July, which essentially became a ward party since they rented out the city aquatics center (including the Hippo, the city’s new inflatable water slide). Lots of fun--two and a half hours in the sunshine and water wore the kids out good! A few more photos on Facebook.

Israel, Jenna, Azia
The bees were the cutest part of the play, especially Azia and Jenna.
The Gnomes were grumpy and wore unibrows--it took a lot of acting for Israel to pull that off!

Gage and Daij go snowboarding
Lookout Mountain had a canned food drive on Friday. Three cans of food got you a all-day lift ticket. The basically free lift ticket and the 35 inches of snow in 48 hours was enough incentive. Deva and I brought Gage and Daij up for the day.

I think the canned food drive was successful. It seems like we parked about a mile away and everyone was carrying cans. We thought the lines were going to be bad but they weren’t at all. This is the view through my goggles.

Perfect day. Sunshine and powder.

The last run the boys did on their own. Next year I think they could be let loose on the mountain.

Iyezk’s 2nd Birthday
Iyezk’s two!
I think that all the rest of the kids may have had even more fun than he did. Christina had games for everyone and cake and nachos. A good way to spend Sunday afternoon.

Iyezk blows out his candles.

Azia, Jenna & Emma all try to start off with a big lead.

Bryce watches Daij find the gummy bear in the whipped cream.

Lettie shares some ice cream.

Ahni was probably the neatest one when it came to the whipped cream game.

Raising them Right
I just want everyone to know that despite the distance I am doing my best to properly indoctrinate my kids. Come to think of it, I haven’t seen Dylan’s CalPoly hat since Mom was here. Hhhmmmmm. . . . .

Kylie Bear
Just a quick update, since ya’ll don’t get to watch her grow.

Christmas Programs
The kids had a nativity play at church and then did a repeat performance of the one Gwen organized last year for Christmas Eve. I think Maysa mainly organized this year’s version of the Christmas Eve performance and she did have people play some new roles.

All these cousins seem to be populating most of the nativity scene. Ahni, Maysa & Bryce were all sheep. For some reason, by the time they were on stage Bryce wound up with all the fuzzy sheep bellies, so he seems to be much fluffier than the rest of the flock. Maybe he traded them for his ears. Zoran was the nativity cow. My children get the unique roles, though I don’t think the Christmas cow was quite as unusual as Azia’s previous performance as the Christmas pig.

Israel got a straight-jacket in the cousin present exchange. Christina knows him so well…

Kylie’s First Bath
Her cord stump didn’t fall off until last night or this morning, so she’s just getting bathed for the first time one day shy of 4 weeks old. She liked it. She’s super mellow--I was expecting a little bit of protesting, but she was totally calm the whole time.

This is a truer representation of her hair color. The photos from Christmas, with the heavy flash, make it look a lot more yellow than it really is. Its fairly red. Someday I’ll get a true blonde or a brunette. Ha. Ha.

I think I’m in for another Amazon girl. . .this is a 0-3 sleeper and she isn’t a month yet. Or maybe she’ll be like Azia and start really big but then become a beautiful little elf.
California Christmas
This year, Doug’s sister Jen, and her husband Paul and their boys Ryan (3 1/2) and Ben (2 1/2) stayed with us. So, with four kids under the age of 5 (well, I guess 5--I wasn’t counting Kylie because she’s so easy), we had a pretty busy Christmas Eve/morning. It was a lot of fun.

The kids posing next to the cookies and egg nog they left out for Santa.

No more stealing Daddy’s guitar!

These two woke up a lot earlier than everyone else. It was torture for Keilana, waiting to open her presents.

Kylie’s Blessing
We blessed Kylie in our ward on December 28th. Doug blessed her, and Chuck (Doug’s step dad), Brad (Doug’s brother) and Paul West, Paul Tanner and Nate McDonald (Doug’s brothers-in-law) all stood in. The whole Clark clan was there. And Lindsay’s building is very small, so we took up a lot of space.

Doug has been working on what he calls his “Jeremiah Johnson look” for a while now. Everyone has given him a hard time about it, but to no avail. But Mom succeeded without trying. The first thing he said when we unwrapped this blessing gown on Christmas morning was, “That’s such a beautiful dress. I feel like I need to go get a new suit and shave.”

One of Doug’s stepsister’s is missing, but other than that, this is the whole clan!
