Easter 2005
March 26-27
Everyone gathered for egg coloring on Saturday night and then Valerie organized a easter egg hunt for Sunday morning. Christina was the prize master and everyone got prizes for their golden eggs. (For Israel the gold egg was more of a prize than anything he could trade it in for.)

Israel, Daij and Christina attempt to color the perfect egg.

Azia prefers pink or purple when coloring eggs. (or in just about any other matter)

One the rules of the hunt had been explained, the kids spilled out the door.

Valerie helped Bryce hunt for eggs.

Maysa had her mom to help her find some eggs
Keilana Stepping Out
These were taken today (4/12) at Sinsheimer Park

Her hair’s long enough for a ponytail (kinda)!

Playing in the sandpit (volleyball court).

Hanging out on the basketball court.

Growing Up
Some of these are about a month old, the rest are new.

Showing off her styling bikini. . . .

. . . .and her Clark booty

In her hand-me-down threads from Mama

Enjoying a little asparagus in her high chair.

Just an up-close shot of her pretty blue eyes.

Seen her showing her true colors.
Sloans Bridge Picnic
We all ( Christina, Eldon, Daij, Jenna, and Bryce ) decided to have lunch at Sloans Bridge after church on Sunday. It was a beatiful February afternoon, sunny and about fifty degrees.

Daij was making his mom nervous, he kept jumping up onto the sidewall so he could look down into the water.

Jenna was “warming up” the water so we could go swimiming.

Bryce was ready to go home and eat.

LaMar “Umpy” Umphrey
Orval LaMar Umphrey passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005.
LaMar was born May 12, 1925 in Rexburg, Idaho to Joseph F. Umphrey and Bessie Marie Ard.
LaMar was raised on a dry farm in Canyon Creek, Idaho near Rexburg. He drove truck all his life. He bought his first truck when he was 15 year old, a 1935 Chevy. For the next three years he hauled coal and grain out of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. He ran this business driving truck until he was drafted into World War Two. He ran this business until he was drafted into World War II. “I knew they’d let me know when they needed me,” he remembered. After boot camp he volunteered for the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in England where he was a tail gunner on B-17s, flying missions over Germany.
In 1949 he married Elda Westover and for the next five years they lived different places along the Montana Hi-Line as LaMar followed highway construction jobs. In 1955 he came to the Mission Valley to build Highway 93 over Ravalli Hill. After that project the company left, but LaMar and Elda were expecting a new baby so they stayed in St. Ignatius.
They remained in the valley for the next five decades. LaMar worked in the logging business until his retirement. He drove for Lyman Claridge for eight years and then also worked for Leonard Pierce, Luke Trahan, Tom Wheeler, Ray Cooper and Richard Burtch.
After he retired LaMar dedicated his time to yard work and gardening at his home along Mission Creek.
LaMar was preceded in death by his ten brothers and sisters and his sons Eddie and Eldon.
He is survived by his sister Nita Bainbridge and his children Faye (Larry) Garlock of Bountiful, Utah; Michael (Valerie) of St. Ignatius, Montana, Laura Hauck of Bountiful, Utah, John (Coreen) Umphrey of Polson, Montana, Kenneth Umphrey of Reno, Nevada, and Jim (Jessica) of St. Ignatius, Montana. He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday February 20 at the Foster & Durgeloh Funeral Home in S. Ignatius. Memorial Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2005 at the St. Ignatius LDS church.

Where are Becky’s Photos?

(This got posted in the wrong weblog. I fixed the permissions so it won’t happen again. (Eldon created the “mission” blog, so the mistake is really his). I’ll move these when I get a chance, unless Eldon does it first).
Nice pictures. I forgot anywhere was sunny with green grass.
Becky (and everyone else): If you click on your name in the “categories” box on the right side of the PUBLISH PAGE before you hit SUBMIT, the program will be able to sort your photos. Any of us will be able to click on a name under the “Family Branches” heading on the home page, and see only the postings for that family.
Keilana Update
Almost eight months old! She’s on the go--and a bit of a terror.

Cheesin’ out for the camera while crawling around the livingroom.

Coming for the camera--she enjoys playing with anything she shouldn’t touch.

Israel Loses First Tooth
After a few years of waiting and a week or so of wiggling, this shaggy boy finally lost a tooth. And then his sister really lost it which was quite traumatic. She told us she ate it, flushed it down the toliet, and put it in her dollhouse, among other stories. Mackenzie is still hoping she made them all up and it will turn up eventually.

Eldon Umphrey, Veteran of the War in Iraq
January 12, 2005
Eldon came up to Ronan and let some of Christa’s high school students interview him about his time in the service. Eldon was a good subject--thoughtful answers and some interesting experiences. The students enjoyed listening to him and were excited to begin their own interviews afterward. (The other class was upset that he didn’t come to theirs also)

Eldon surrounded by his audience for the interview

He also brought some of the things he brought back from Iraq with him to share with students. Here he shows the prayer rug he brought for Jenna. A gas mask is beside him on the table.

After showing off this suveniour many of the students had to try it out themselves.

Jenna turns Three

The morning sledding trip was cancled due to the threat of sub-zero temperatures but we still packed the basement to full capacity and had an intimate setting for a great third birthday party.

The crowd gathers to sing happy birthday.

Jenna blows out her candles… with a little help from some family.

Isreal “helps” his sister swing at the pinata. After the candy was dispensed everyone visited for awhile and then, one family at a time, trecked back through the cold to their own warm houses.
Hulk Pudding Night
January 4, 2005--
I guess this is what happens when you let these four eat pudding (with the hulk on the box) with no adults in the same room.

The whole gang--caught.

New Years Eve

Dev& Azia and Valerie & Jenna & Zoran enjoy the campfire at the bottom of the sledding hill.

Michael & Deva (i think) try out the sledding hill.

Israel heads up the hill for another run.

Dev & Azia and Deva & Jenna enjoy the fireworks from a warmer perspective than everyone else in the driveway.

Even Zoran and Bryce made it all the way to the New Year. They were still awake and smiling after midnight.

Israel and Daij were excited about New Years...or something...unfortunately for Papa he was nearby.
