If you are working in a journal, exchange your journal with a classmate. Read the anwers to the 10 questions and the entry about the meaning of “simplify, simplify,” then write in your classmate’s journal a response to one of the answers. You can agree or disagree, or simply add a further comment or more development. Don’t just offer vague phrasesgood comment, I agree, etc. Ask yourself whether the comments on individuals, society, government and nature seem right? are they true?Ԗand are they complete?

Homework. Finish reading Walden (243-244). Read Don Henley’s response to Thoreau (p. 245). This is one of the best-known passages in American literature. Spend some time pondering what it means, and whether or not you agree.
