In the class discussion I would like to learn what made Thoreau want to simplify his life and other people’s lives. Why did Thoreau exclude himself from the world for such a long period of time? I think that tomorrow we should talk about why civil disobedience is wrong. Why did Thoreau go and live in the woods? Why didn’t Thoreau take advantage of his literary abilities and education in a normal way? What made Thoreau want to return to civilization?
